why do people feel safe/comfortable about talking about illegal drug use online?
I know that not everyone is truthful on this forum, but I think at least some folks are probably thinking that there is no way to trace the answer or question back to them. Don't ya think its safer to not discuss illegal drug activity online?

- Of course it is safer not too. But people are in essence anonymous. And I think people know there is going to be nobody pursuing people doing these illegal drugs online. Dane
- I think illegal drug use is so rampant is our society that they think that nobody really gives a hoot. I mean somebody says they do this or that...who cares? They probably feel if they are not caught in the act of buying, selling using its all just talk.
- I sure hope that the DEA is too busy busting meth labs and such to track down the losers on yahoo answers.
- Where I live, the cops guard the dope houses, and can't be bothered with homocides, so I never really worried about "the powers that be" interfering with my drinking or using....not really. I was on the internet while I was using (some years ago), and I never posted anything about it because what would be the point? Bragging? I think a lot of people are indirectly (and directly) doing just that .And my using wasn't something I thought was "brag-worthy". A lot of people on here ask about drug use, because they are trying to figure out how to get high. I knew how to do that.... People who use drugs don't always have the best judgment, and I think that is the most likely reason for a lot of the communications on here.... But there are people who post questions on here about how to recover from addiction, and if you are an addict, your world has most likely gotten real small, so to speak, and the internet might be one of the few ways you have to contact "the outside world' about how to seek recovery resources. Especially since most people at that point in their lives might be too ashamed to ask a doctor, family, or even acquaintances, where to seek help. Really, some people have no clue...so for those folks, I'm glad that the anonymity of the internet allows them to seek help at least in some way.
- because they are stupid stoners!!!
- I feel safe and comfortable almost everywhere to talk about illegal drug use
- they are impaired people with impaired judgment's. Someone is tracking their activity. This is just another way to track them.
- I think its fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and if someone wants to ask a question about drug use, or someone wants to answer one, there is nothing wrong with it. If someone doesn't approve of drug use and doesn't want to hear about it, then don't read the post. Why try to force your opinion on others? Using drugs is a personal choice, and people are free to do whatever they choose. As far as "safe" goes, no cop is going to show up at your door and arrest you for saying you smoked weed one time on yahoo answers. Give me a break. Big Brother is not monitoring the internet for drug users, I'm pretty sure there are bigger and better things to worry about. You can't get in trouble for saying you use drugs, or even saying you sell drugs-no one is going to investigate some stupid comment you made, or throw you in jail for saying you smoked crack last week. Come on now!
